Dr Alan Hill is a photographer living on unceded Wurundjeri Country in Narrm/Melbourne. His personal photographic work is primarily concerned with the politics of public space while his broader research interests revolve around the (re)consideration of documentary photography as a civil practice. He regularly collaborates with Kelly Hussey-Smith, including on projects that seek to contribute to discourses surrounding documentary and socially-engaged lens-based practices and education, such as the establishment of the Doing Visual Politics network as a site of integrated scholarship. Alan is a Lecturer in Photography at the RMIT School of Art and Program Manager of the Bachelor of Arts (Photography).
